Another pretty neat local thing

There's a bunch of people doing local fiber-to-the-home. I haven't seen their detailed numbers, but it doesn't sound completely crazy. And considering that the local cable internet company is evil and still trying to dig out of the fiscal hole the previous corporation dug for them, and the local phone/DSL franchise just got sold to some financial engineering company a thousand miles away with a huge debt load and questionable ability to fulfill the promises they made to regulators, this sounds pretty cool.

Of course, there's 250' of questionable conduit between us and the street, so who knows...
